David Stepanchak brings an extensive range of experience in the structuring of complex debt and equity transactions to George Smith Partners. During his 36-year career in mortgage banking, David has arranged financing in excess of $4.5 billion in commercial, multi-family, and residential transactions throughout the United States. His responsibilities include solicitation, underwriting, and structuring of debt and equity transactions from $3 million to $250 million.

David is a continued member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and in conjunction with his desire to serve in a leadership role, he observes a philanthropic approach to his community. Currently he serves as an active participant of the Leadership Council at Elizabethtown College, a liberal arts undergraduate institution located on the East Coast, where David earned a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Business Administration.

David earned his Master’s Degree in Finance from the University of Southern California; and from time to time has served as a lecturer to real estate students at USC’s Marshall School of Business. He continues to serve Marshall Students interested in pursuing a career in real estate as a one-on-one mentor.

David abides by an approach of “working hard and playing hard.” He is an avid off-road motorcyclist and keeps a Harley-Davidson in the garage for weekend rides. He is also passionate about his latest hobby as a helicopter pilot, often supplementing underwriting packages with his own aerial photographs.
